Howling Ice

Howling Ice, was made at a Conservation Area called the Gut. Fast flowing water runs quickly down a falls and then through a narrow limestone canyon. In March during my visit the flow of water is extremely fast with the melting snow. This image was made upstream from the main falls before the canyon. Large chunks of ice were dodging in the fast flowing river, at times breaking loose and plunging into the river and then over the falls. This piece of ice was still holding fast to a rock bouncing up and down in the fast flowing river. It reminded me of a wolf howling. The water was splashing up and over the chunk of ice as it bobbed with the currents.
